March 6–Canada: Ben Robinbson has joined the internationally known Chaplin impersonator Paul Romhany in his well-attended blog The Romhany Report with an article targeted to magicians. It spotlights Robinson's vast experience of being in magic for 40 years and serving audiences internationally since 1984. Titled "What They Want"the article centers on modern audiences and their desires. It is the first of several articles to come.

And on the writer front, Ben Robinson has received the 2008 Howard Bbamman trophy of a 19th century conjurer, we are told, from the International Brotherhood of Magicians for an article titled "Al Flosso: An American Original" he submitted to their magazine, The Linking Ring, in 1996 and was published in 2007! (BTW, you can read this article in our Master's Gallery, see lower right.)

Who says artists are never rewarded? We offer our thanks to the editorial staff of The Linking Ring for their choice and look forward to seeing what we are told is a beautiful trophy.

January 21–New York City: Ben Robinson makes his third appearance at the Jewish Home for the Aged on West 106th Street. At the conclusion of his 40-minute performance for the intimate audience ranging in ages from three and a half to well over 100, one man, a retired Lt. General with the Air Force said, "You, Mr. Robinson, epitomize the professional magician in carriage, poise, surprise and deportment. People will simply not believe me when I speak of your wonders." Booked months in advance because of his reviews from his appearance last Halloween, sponsored by the New York Junior league, this appearance was made possible by the generous donation of Citibank and the people at New York Cares.

October 20--New York City. The Church of the Holy Family, known as "The UN Church," Ben Robinson gave a standing-room-only audience a show they will never forget on East 47th Street. To the sold-out auditorium, the magician conjured on stage with twenty pieces of first-rate magic in just under an hour. Using five members of the audience, he cajoled names from the ether, passed handkerchiefs through unsuspecting arms and at the end of his performance proved it was true that he could be in three places at the same time. Brother Robert Fontaine said that parishoners were still talking about the magician's performance well after the 5:30pm mass, when the show had concluded at 2:45pm! The audience of all ages comprised many nationalities, one visiting diplomat from New Delhi (India) said that she had seen another magician who claims the name of a famous book, but added, that "I liked you (Ben Robinson) much, much more because your magic was personable and came directly from your hands to my mind." Robinson has already been booked back for the 2008 clutural performance calendar at the church, and next time he'll be bringing along an entirely different presentation concerning some of his world travels.

October 12: Great Neck, NY-- "Stupendous performance"... "you were the topic of conversation for many weeks" ..."the way you worked the audience was very clever" ... such were the comments by the President of the Women's Club of Great Neck (NY) after Ben Robinson held the stage for close to an houron April 28th (see Recent Show Pix at right). Robinson will be appearing next year for this group, and nothing speaks to success like a repeat booking, which is the case with most of his clients, some of whom have been booking Ben Robinson since his full-time debut in New York in 1984.

October 11: Tampa FL-- Ben Robinson joins the gang of Parahub radio on the Internet radio known for broadcasting "Outrageous Unique New Creative Entertainment" on the only Paranormal Rock'n Roll talk show featuring Ruffhouse and the Gang. Speaking about his performances around the world, upcoming shows at the UN Church, and for notables, Ben Robinson held the radio audience for over 30 minutes, and will be back as the response was overwhelming. September 11, 2007: Summer Sorcery Tour Ends. Since August 24th Ben Robinson has traveled to: Norwell, MA ; North Dartmouth, MA; Bedford, MA; South Dartmouth, MA; Bayshore, NY; New York City; Portland, ME; Trenton, ME; Northeast Harbor, ME; Southwest Harbor, ME and Ilseford, ME (Little Cranberry Island). The tour of private dates began with a celebration of a home that took 15 years to construct on 1800 acres overlooking the Atlantic, and concluded at a wedding on an island off the coast of Maine. The magician is seen performing for young and old in a special suit he had made for the tour, which included a tie made in Great Britain, a shirt from Hong Kong, a suit from Canada, shoes from Vermont, and the outfit was expertly coordinated and measured by Zohreh's of New York -- a truly international effort!

July 18–NYC: At a celebration of American citizenship, several "refugees" from the Metropolitan Cafe assembled not far away in another bistro. The expression on the woman's face shows that the former MC magician, Ben Robinson, was in usual astounding form. The magician stands at right in black. A few hours earlier, less than a quarter mile away, the NYC infrastructure exploded sending debris 18-stories. Never a dull moment in Manhattan!

July 5, New York City: Ben Robinson, New York's busiest magician, began the holiday by traveling to Commack, New York for a poolside party where children of all ages (seen below) received magic hats among other items, during two-and-a-half hours of non-stop close-up magic. This marks Robinson's 50th appearance for this group over the last 6 years. Nothing speaks to client satisfaction like a repeat booking, or in this case, multiple bookings. Atop, that evening, Robinson appeared at a party overlooking the fireworks in NY Harbor. One man came up to the magician and said, "You know what I have in front of my computer? A two of clubs you magically made appear, and it is now my good luck charm. Thank you." Yes, thank you!

BEN ROBINSON CIRCLING THE U.S. IN MAGIC IN 7 DAYS
xx June 1, New York City: Ben Robinson is seen next to one of the many famous paintings at the historic Players club on New York's Gramercy Park South. At a wedding reception for friends, the jazz band played, the audience danced and the magician conjured sending several screaming in delight. The Players is the former home to one of the most famous magic collections extant, the famous John Mulholland Collection. Moreso, The Players has had a membership of several noted magicians including Ben Robinson's teacher, Milbourne Christopher.
May 30, 2007, New York: It has been an exhausting 2 months, perhaps one of the busiest in Ben Robinson's career. From performances in Great Neck, NY to White Plains, NY to New Rochelle, NY, and then off to Dallas (TX), Las Vegas, Chicago and then back to the Big Apple, it has been an amazing ride meeting all sorts of people, performing in all sorts of venues. Here are a few of the pictures, and captured moments.

Above, Ben Robinson's full evening show dazzled a select audience at the famed Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, in New York, April 7th. The poster, given to each member of the audience was such a hit that several wrote to say they framed it. The design is by Gabrielle Gewirtz and David Serrano. (The hour glass was given to the magician's wife for her 15 years service to women in prison and developing The Learning Center for Women in Prison.) In front of a capacity audience, the magician showed a ton of magic in almost exactly one hour to the second!!! At right, Robinson appears for the Women's Club of Great Neck (NY) -- April 28th -- with an after dinner show that received raves and a few fan letters from former students of the late great magicians Frank Garcia, Slydini and Dai Vernon! Above, left and right, shots of Ben Robinson entertaining in Las Vegas. He met with his old friend ex-Excalibur Hotel resident magician Kevin Barnes, and showed him the DVD of his new show.

You can take the magician out of New York, but you can't take the New York out of the magician. He entertained by day and night at a corporate conference for three days. At Luxor, Madalay Bay and other spots the magician strolled, stood out and conjured as Elvis, Cher, Tom Jones and Neil Diamond impersonators took the stage. On a brief respite, magician and wife took in "singly the best magic show" he says he's ever seen: Master Magician Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo Hotel. Thanks Lance!

And, we close with a once in a lifetime shot. Never in his life, throughout the hundreds, if not thousands of stages Ben Robinson has stepped on has he ever had a dressing room that overlooked the ocean, but here it is, as evidenced here in this pre-perfomance shot showing the traveling magician amazed, happy and ready to go to work! Many thanks to Lindsay Burdick of Pinsky Studio for the memorable photo!
